A prayer rug for the sanctuary of home and the Wallace Collection. Shirley Smith is in the centre passed out on the floor, escaping the threats of a cruel world; murderous weapons lie around her in bloody pools. Beyond the antique swords, guns and daggers, a border of skulls mock and laugh. Shirley's body is a temple. A demonic cat guards the entrance, as the shadow of her younger, traumatised self hovers in the doorway. On either side of the entrance are Sèvres urns and portraits of her adopted ancestors, Sir Richard and Lady Wallace.
